Funny People looks seriously funny!
Judd Apatow has thrown some stinkers out there. I mean, both Zohan and Drillbit Taylor were crap and you cannot deny that. But, while his producing and screenwriting efforts may never be certain, he has proven is directorial touch is solid gold. Both The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up were touching films with a good amount of gross humor. Both are deserving of acclaim for being mainstream films that are a success with teens as well as middle-aged adults.
Now, he gives us Funny People which looks just that: funny. But, when you have Seth Rogen, Adam Sandler, Jonah Hill, and Eric Bana, you may not be thinking drama. But, if Judd was able to make it possible for Steve Carrell to make Dan in Real Life and Little Miss Sunshine credible turns, he is going to cement that for the aforementioned actors. The movie looks good, sweet, funny, and above all else well made.
